Glenn Hall
Glenn is a Senior Associate of Bakewell House. He began his career in the world of TV and stage lighting systems, and gained wide-ranging experience in many areas of practical technology in broadcast, such as studios, special effects, computer control, OBs and the worlds of opera, theatre, ballet, rock and roll, and major live events. He then became CTO of the internationally successful film company Aardman Animations, during which time he pioneered such technologies as the international distribution of rushes and approvals; web commerce; and streaming media. This marked the beginning of a long-term involvement with what generally known as “new media” in all its aspects, but particularly touching production methods. After a two-year period of secondment to establish a Media Lab at Bristol University, he joined Hewlett Packard as Principal Architect, Broadcast and Rich Media, although his business card also described him as as HP’s “Media Anthropologist,” a title which encompassed his deep domain experience of not just broadcasting but many other forms of media delivery, such as the internet, mobile, and print. Glenn has had very wide industrial experience in fields beyond broadcast and media engineering. He has spent many years sitting precisely on the line between Information Technology and traditional broadcast engineering, and says he has the scars to prove it! He has special expertise in a number of areas, including Digital Asset Management and formal project management methodologies.
