Adrian Scott
The Bakewell House Consultancy was founded in 2002 by Adrian Scott, a highly experienced senior executive in the media technology sector. Adrian's career began in broadcast journalism: he studied at the University of North Carolina's renowned School of Journalism before returning to his native Scotland to work as a reporter at Radio Clyde. His career progressed rapidly as he moved to IRN and LBC in London, where he was a presenter and producer, before joining the launch team at TV-am as a senior producer and programme editor. He then moved to ITN, and his career took a new path when ITN acquired the newsroom computer company BASYS and Adrian became its Head of Sales and Marketing. BASYS expanded rapidly, gaining a dominant share of the emerging NRCS market, and was eventually acquired from ITN by Avid Technology. Firstly as European Broadcast Market Manager, and latterly as VP of EMEA Marketing for Avid's iNews newsroom technology subsidiary, Adrian was an evangelist for change in the industry, responsible for helping to introduce IT-based newsroom systems, along with non-linear editing and server-based production and playout into many broadcasters around the world. After a period as a director of Autocue, Adrian founded his own consultancy and has since been engaged by numerous broadcasters and manufacturers throughout the industry to carry out a wide variety of assignments.
Adrian's current main focus is at the leading UK broadcast manufacturer Pro-Bel, where he operates as Chief Marketing Officer.
In addition to his other activities, Adrian is a partner in the Paris-based benchmarking and market research company, Kane; and is a shareholder in Marquis Broadcasting.
Adrian is very active in the industry at large. He was a co-founder and European chair of G-SAM, the Global Society for Asset Management; He is an associate member of the IABM, the International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers, for whom he has been a long-term consultant; he is Deputy Chair of the Management Committee of the Royal Television Society Thames Valley Centre; and is a member of both the Conference and Exhibition Committees of IBC, where he has produced and chaired conference sessions for the last 6 years in a row and will again at IBC 2008.
